On Friday, October 7, 2011, The Jim and Cheryl Caldwell Foundation held their grand opening for their second Project Phoenix Learning Center.  The Flanner House located at 2424 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, Indianapolis, Indiana has served the Indianapolis community since 1898 by providing educational, social and economic resources to families and youth.  In 202, Flanner House expanded its reach by starting the Flanner House Elementary Charter School.  Today, the school serves nearly 250 youth in grades K-6.

The Jim and Cheryl Caldwell Foundation seeks to enhance selected locations by creating 21st Century Learning Centers for children in underserved communities.  These Project Phoenix Learning Centers offer a positive environment of educational hardware and software that is supplemental to student learning.

The Flanner House grand opening unveiled new furniture, computer workstations for the students, teacher workstation, ActivBoard from Promethean, educational and gaming software.
