On January 22, 2014, The Jim and Cheryl Caldwell Foundation and The Chris Paul Family Foundation dedicated the fifth Project Phoenix Learning Center at The Salvation Army International Corps Boys & Girls Club in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  This was the second Project Learning Center in Winston-Salem.  It was during a fundraising banquet for local Salvation Army that NBA player, Chris Paul and The Chris Paul Family Foundation generously gifted a check for $25,000.00 and Cheryl Caldwell matched a checked for the same amount from The Jim and Cheryl Caldwell Foundation for the creation of a Project Phoenix Learning Center at the International Corps location on New Walkertown Road.  “Within seconds, the Salvation Army had $50,000 towards a Project Phoenix Learning Center here at the Boys & Girls Club, a priceless gift,” Major James Allison, Area Commander of the Salvation Army.

The dedication ceremony included an excited audience of students, staff and community stakeholders to the International Corps location.  The Project Phoenix Learning Center included new furniture, a Promethean ActivBoard and accessories, a network printer and Internet accessibility in addition to new computers.  As with all the Project Phoenix Learning Centers our goal is to act as a supplementary model, helping to reinforce the lessons that students learn in the classroom.  We want to do this by using innovative tools and specialized interactive instructional software to teach and guide our youth in the digital world.
